Acceptable Use Policy

A short list of things that would spoil this for everyone.

Last updated 27 September 2026

1. The principle

cine.gallery is a private working library for production people. Almost everything you would sensibly do with a reference library is fine. This policy exists for the rest.

2. Do not upload

  • Material that is unlawful where you are or where we operate.
  • Child sexual abuse material. We report this to the authorities without exception and without notice.
  • Material that incites violence or hatred against people, or that exists to harass a particular person.
  • Material you have been ordered or formally asked to stop using.
  • Malware, or files designed to exploit the Service or the people who use it.
  • Other people's personal information where you have no right to hold it, including private documents and identification.

3. Do not do

  • Attempt to access another member's library, or to circumvent access checks, quotas or rate limits.
  • Scrape, resell or redistribute the Service or anything you obtain through it.
  • Use the Service to build a competing dataset, or to re-licence material to third parties.
  • Share your account credentials, or use one membership as though it were several. Teams exist for this and are priced for it.
  • Interfere with the Service's operation or with other members' use of it.

4. Reference use

Collecting stills, clips and sound as reference for your own work is the purpose of this product and is what the private, non-distributing design supports. Whether a particular use is permitted is a question of the copyright law that applies to you, and we cannot answer it for you. When in doubt, keep it private and do not redistribute it.

5. How we enforce this

Where we can, we will write to you first and give you a chance to remove something or explain. For serious or unlawful matters we act immediately and tell you afterwards. We would rather resolve a problem than close an account, and you may always appeal to contact@cine.gallery — a person will read it.

6. Talking to us first

If anything in this document, or anything about how we have treated you, concerns you, write to contact@cine.gallery before taking a formal step. We reply within five business days and tell you what we can and cannot do.

Nothing here removes any right you have under Canadian law or the law where you live, including your right to complain to a regulator or, in Ontario, to bring a claim. We only ask for the chance to put it right first.

If you have questions or concerns relating to this document, contact us here.
